Victory

A kid flashes me a victory sign after scoring a goal in a game of football.

In the middle of nowhere, towards the north-western borders of Karnataka lies the Doeguling Tibetan Settlement near Mundgod. It is one of the few places where the Tibetan people were settled in India around 1966. I happened to pass this place in one of my driving adventures with Lily. Since then, I always thought I would spend a little more time at this place. The opportunity came when I was returning from a ride to Konkan coast. Crossing Doeguling, I decided to stay at one of the guest houses and spend the day roaming around the settlement.

This picture was taken when I was enjoying a cool breeze under some trees across the road from a school courtyard. Behind the closed gate, some kids were playing football. Once in a while their ball would sneak out from the gaps and out they would rush to collect the ball. On one such occasion, this kid flashed a “victory” sign to me indicating the goal he had just scored.
