Flowers Galore

A meadow in Yumthang Valley covered with wild flowers amidst a row of fluttering Buddhist prayer flags.
Come spring and the Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim becomes home to countless wild flowers adorning the valley with all hues of the spectrum. While the slopes of the valley are full of flowering trees and shrubs like Primula and Rhododendrons, it is the river side meadows which accentuate the beauty of the valley. The tiny wild flowers carpet the meadow weaving an intricate pattern of randomness.
As I was walking down the meadow towards the river, the flowers bordered by the prayer flags and a backdrop of smokey mountains presents a beautiful frame just waiting to be captured.

Nature’s Carpet

Wild flowers forming a carpet alongside the Manali Leh Highway

Between Manali and Leh the terrain and visuals change many a times. From lush green fields, to carpeted valleys to rugged terrain with seemingly nothing growing to snow covered passes it is a visual feast to drive on this highway.
As I was driving down towards Manali from Zing Zing Bar, The road snaked through what seemed a hand woven carpet of multiple hues. As I descended down to the river bed, I found wild flowers spread all over the sides creating a beautiful mosaic like a woven carpet.

Adorning the River

Photo of a seasonal stream in the Suru valley of Zanskar region. I had stopped here for a brief moment of rest and to fill a water bottle. Took out the camera after noticing the wild flowers blooming next to the stream.
The camera was placed on a parapet next to the road to allow for the long exposure.
