Taken on Puri beach adjacent to a fishing village
I was visiting Puri and took an early morning stroll on the beach. Towards the end of the beach there is a fishing village and fishing boats were returning after a night out at the sea.
While watching the boats come in and unload their catch for the day, I saw these two kids practicing how to launch the boat against the waves. Each time they would push the boat out, the waves would push it back.
This is a picture of one such attempt with the sun, still below the horizon, painting the sky in morning hues.

Painted Sky
Sunrise over Whitefield Bangalore.
First pictures of 2016, taken on the morning of Jan 2nd.
The clouds of Jan 1st had parted giving way to a beautiful morning. Venus (not in this pic) was shining brightly in the South-East. While the low-lying fog gave an aura of spookiness to the low lands, the sky was brightly painted by the rising sun. The imagery lasted only for a few minutes before the rising sun washed away the horizon

Sunrise Haze
Sun rises over a marshy lake bed somewhere near Kolar.
Took this picture in Feb of 2015, on the way to Gandikota, Andhra Pradesh on a motorbike. I was crossing this small bridge over a water tank. The tank was pretty much dry with small patches of water left over from last rain. The fog, low lying shrubs, trees and the sun hidden behind the morning fog gave a dream like imagery.

In the Shadow of Gods
Sun rises on the Nanda Devi peaks while villagers carry on with their morning routine.
Took this picture in Nov of 2014 when I was on the way to Munsiyari on a motorbike. My first halt for the night was at KMVN guest house, Choukori. This picture was taken from the balcony of the room, just as the sun hit the mountain peaks.
In the shadows, the villagers carry on their daily life unperturbed by the beauty around the. On the left below you can see kids assembling to go to school. In front of the house a woman is drying clothes.

Panchachuli Sunrise
Sunrise over the Panchachuli Peaks.
I took this shot from the grounds of Nanda Devi temple in Munshiyari. These Himalayan peaks are towards the east and sun rises exactly behind them, giving an aura to the peaks. The picture is a subtle HDR of three shots to try to preserve some texture on the top mountain peaks.
