Tea Estates of Valparai during a three day solo bike ride to Valparai.
As the road snakes down towards Sholayar Dam from Valparai, there are beautiful tea gardens flanked by dense forests. Being the fag-end of monsoon season, the clouds played hide ‘n seek with the mountains.

Dotting the gardens are these African Tulip Tree (Spathodea), which were in full bloom at this time.

As the flower falls, they carpet the underlying area with an assortment of flowers in various state of decay, weaving a pattern on the ground.
Above is a path that curved below the trees.

The view above was across the valley of a tea processing plant surrounded by tea gardens. The red blooms on the tree accentuated the greens of the surroundings. See original here.

Athirapally Falls

Visited the Athirapally Falls during a three day solo bike ride to Valparai.
At the falls, there is a small trail that leads to the bottom of the falls just to the edge of water. It is a steep with multiple switchbacks descending down.
While the heavy riding jacket made the going tough, the humidity meant I was sweating profusely inside.
The view from down was well worth the trouble. Mist from the falling water drenched everything. I had to be very careful as neither the camera, nor the lens was water-resistant. Covering it with a plastic cover and handkerchief, I managed a few shots.
