Reflection on a puddle of runoff water on infamous Gramphoo-batal stretch in Lauhaul.
Having left Chandrataal early in the morning for fear of getting stuck, I stopped at the Chacha-Chachi dhabha for breakfast. By that time the sky had cleared giving way to beautiful skies dotted with a few clouds.
From Batal starts the most infamous stretch of the Spiti circuit. At the best of times, the road till Gramphoo is a nightmare to drive on. I managed to scrap through with a few water crossings and a few underbelly hits.
However the desolation of the place makes up for the hardship. Chhatru was the first place where there was some operational civilization.
Having a lot of time on my hand, I took it easy making the most of autumn sun and lovely views. This picture was taken when I stopped to fill my water bottle from a mountain stream of crystal cold water. On the left there is a steep drop to the Chenab River. Manali is on the other side of mountains with their dusting of snow.
