A seasonal stream cascades down from a rocky ledge near the sleepy town of Barkot, Uttrakhand

Having driven through some rough terrain alongside the Tehri reservoir, I was itching to relax my bum when I spotted a small tea shop next to this waterfall.

The shop also housed a small Aata-chakki powered by the waterfall. Two young boys ran the tea shop.

Over tea, had a chat with the boys. Unemployment is a big challenge in the hills. Both of them had tried to enroll in the army and weren’t successful. None wanted to work in the family fields. So one was doing further studies at nearby ITI and other was running the tea shop.

Technical details: Olympus E-M10ii + 14-42mm, F/22, 1.6s, IS100
