A toy train operator looking lost at a local fair in Thanjavur, India

While on a visit to Thanjavur,  I happened to visit a small fair near the famous Brihadeeswarar Temple.

The unsophisticated rides brought memories of yesteryear. Somewhere in the middle of those was this man, operating the toy train. Amidst the din, he gazed into the unknown. Oblivious of the chaos, lost in thought he operated the machines by reflexes. Starting when the last child was seated and stopping when the kids became restless.
